Jonathan Van Ness at Paramount Theatre Seattle

American hairdresser, podcaster, and television personality Jonathan Van Ness is best known for the web series parody Gay of Thrones, hosting the Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness podcast, and as the grooming expert on the Netflix series Queer Eye. A graduate of the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis, Van Ness moved to Los Angeles, California in 2009. When working on his friend Erin Gibson's hair (of the comedy website Funny or Die), Van Ness was asked to recap an episode of the HBO series Game of Thrones. Gibson was so impressed with his humorous take on the program, he was invited to record the recap for an episode of Funny or Die, which became the web series Gay of Thrones. In 2018, he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series for the series. In 2015, Van Ness began hosting the weekly podcast Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness. He stars in the current series of Queer Eye on Netflix, which began in February 2018 and was recently renewed for a third season.
