A rotating musical collective known for its vintage-style covers of modern hits and talented guest vocalists, Postmodern Jukebox was formed by jazz pianist and composer Scott Bradlee in 2011. A few years previous, Bradlee and his friends began shooting music videos in his small basement apartment in Astoria, Queens and in 2009 had a viral hit with “a medley of ‘80s songs done ragtime style.” Bradlee’s project A Motown Tribute to Nickelback came to fruition in 2011 and paved the way for Postmodern Jukebox. The first PMJ viral hit came in 2012 with Robyn Adele Anderson's cover of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis', "Thrift Shop", which hit over 1 million views in its first week, 4 million in its first year and became the group's breakthrough hit. The group's popularity grew even further when, in 2014, they recorded a video of a 1940s style rendition of Meghan Trainor's “All About That Bass” that caught the attention of  Time magazine, Billboard magazine, the Huffington Post and PBS NewsHour. As of 2017, the video has had over 16 million views, which was topped by the group's cover of Radiohead’s “Creep,” performed by Haley Reinhart, which is the group's most-watched video at 39 million views. To date, Postmodern Jukebox has released 20 studio albums, including one Christmas album and one compilation.
