The Lion King at Paramount Theatre Seattle

The Lion King shares the struggles of the young lion cub Simba, who before long is forced to come to terms with his destiny of becoming the leader of the Pride Lands due to the tragedy that befalls his father, Mufasa. Mufasa, who is a beloved leader by the animals of his lands, gets stabbed in the back by from Scar, Simba’s uncle, which ends in his murder. This forces the young prince into to escape for years, and where his coming-of-age story and his eventual return to his land and his destined rule as King.

Taken from the late 1994 film of the the very same title produced by Disney, The play, The Lion King was accurately translated to the Broadway stage by director Julie Taymor and the unbelievable ensemble and production crew. Its debut in the 90s was a testament to its success, being a multi-awarded debut. Greg Evans of Variety encapsulates The Lion King with unequivocal opinions in his review, sharing that “Julie Taymor's direction of this classic musical is a marvel, a theatrical achievement unquestionable in its beauty, brains and ingenuity. Exceeding expectations as a film follow-up, the stage version enhances on distinct creative choices of the previous 1994 cartoon film, from visual artistry and narrative to Lebo M's compositions and the beautifully African-inspired pop numbers of Elton John and Tim Rice."

The ongoing musical was also met with the favorite reviews from audiences. One specifically makes mention of how The Lion King can accurately be considered “The best Broadway has to offer”, expressing how he perceived that “the show was exceptional. It was full of color and the music would give you goosebumps. The crafted 3D puppets really carried the roles to life.” Most theatergoers who have attended the musical over the past 2 decades can attest that despite being an adaptation of a motion picture, Disney's The Lion King was a worthwhile show to watch.

This coming December’s production of The Lion King will be hosted in Paramount Theatre at Washington on Tuesday 30th December 2025. Paramount Theatre, being equally inspiring and jaw-dropping as the Broadway play with the theater's naturally decorated lighting and sound design is deemed by fans as the only option to stage The Lion King.
