Shucked at Paramount Theatre Seattle

Shucked National Tour
“Drop everything and go see Shucked while you can. It’s hilarious, heartfelt, and (forgive me) ear-resistable, a truly cream-of-the-crop show.” – Third Coast Review
Kicking off in late 2024 with a performance in Providence, Rhode Island, the National Tour spans several seasons and is currently set to run all the way through to June 2026. Visiting well over 30 cities in its first year, Shucked will finally make it all the way to the Paramount Theatre in Seattle from November 4 to November 9, 2025. This is Shucked’s first national tour and follows an incredibly successful run on Broadway plus a debut on London’s West End in January. And after the US tour finishes, the show is set to head to Toronto, Ontario.

“The jokes fly fast as exploding kernels of popcorn in this Tony-award winning musical comedy… left me grinning, well, from ear to ear.” – Stage and Cinema

Shucked the musical
Shucked the musical takes you to the fictional Cob County, an a-maize-ing place that’s absolutely gone corny for corn… but it’s in a bad way, and the crops are all starting to die. In comes our heroine, the lovable Maizy, who takes it upon herself to save the town and her upcoming wedding. So the small-town girl takes her first steps into a big, wide world and heads to the mega city lights of… Tampa! Here, she finds and enlists the help of world-renowned corn expert Gordy. Little does she know, Gordy is really just a slimy con man looking for an easy mark. Will our corn-picking protagonist find out the truth, save the heart and soil of her hometown, and marry the man of her corn-fed dreams? Come and find out at one of the corniest shows ever, a night of nonstop humor, a barrage of corn puns, and ultimately prove that tearing down walls can preserve a community.
The show runs about 2 hours and 30 minutes, with one intermission. It is suitable for ages 10 and up with adult themes, moments of adult language, and a harvest of corny innuendo.
Review: Tony-Winning Shucked Brings Delightfully Corn-y Musical Comedy
By Lisa Trifone for Third Coast Review
“Drop everything and go see *Shucked* while you can. It’s hilarious, heartfelt, and (forgive me) ear-resistable, a truly cream-of-the-crop show and proof that American musical theater is still capable of winsome, surprising, and original works worth their ever-inflating ticket prices… The ensemble touring cast is essentially superb… There is, as I have not been shy about thus far, much to recommend Shucked. But above all, it’s the show’s charming and truly gut-busting comedy that is its most winning feature. Art that knows what it is and embraces that truth is usually the most successful kind of art, and Shucked proves this in spades as it leans into the…corniness…of its comedy. There isn’t a pun that goes unsaid, a rock under which a potential joke can hide. From the opening number recounting the history of corn and its (lack of) digestion in our systems to a running gag for Beau’s brother, Peanut, that had me in literal tears of laughter each time it resurfaced, the comedy manages to be smart and wholesome, cutting and endearing.”

Cast and Creative
“The jokes arrive so quickly you start to suspect there is a hidden cornfield of writers backstage tossing them forward like ears into a harvester.” – Stage and Cinema

Paramount Theatre in Seattle
The French Renaissance-style Paramount Theater in Seattle was designed by renowned Chicago architects George and Cornelius Rapp and completed in 1928. A 1990s renovation modernized the theater and updated sound and lighting tech while preserving its opulent lobby, ballroom, and ornate details. Originally built to host 3000 guests, it now holds just a few hundred less for more comfort. An iconic venue since its earliest days, the theater had a place to play in Seattle’s music scene, hosting early rock-n-roll and later grunge influences alongside iconic musicians, comedy specials, and now also big Broadway productions.
Located at 911 Pine Street in downtown Seattle, the theater doesn’t have its own parking, but there is a loading zone on 9th Avenue and Pine to drop off passengers and several pay lots in the area, as well as metered street parking (after 8pm and Sundays are free). The Paramount Theatre is committed to providing accessible services whenever possible and is proactive in the pursuit of improving accessibility. With wheelchair-accessible seating and complimentary escort service upon request, plus listening devices available to rent for free, audio-described shows, and ASL and open caption interpretation available for certain shows. Do visit Seattle Theatre Group (STG) for more information, or contact the box office at least 48 hours in advance.
