SYNOPSIS

It’s 19 years after Harry Potter and his friends defeated Lord Voldemort at the Battle of Hogwarts, and it’s time for young Albus Potter to make his way to Hogwarts to start his training as a young wizard. Faced with his father’s legacy and feelings of not being able to live up to it, it comes as a surprise that Albus has not only befriended Scorpio Malfoy, the son of Harry’s formal rival Draco Malfoy, but is sorted into Slytherin.

When the two friends meet Delphi Diggory, who claims to be Cedric Diggory’s cousin, it comes to light that Amos Diggory, Cedric’s father, plans to use a Time-Turner to return to the Tri-Wizard Tournament where Cedric got killed, and prevent that from happening. Instead, Albus encourages Scorpio to join him, and the two friends set out to the Ministry of Magic where they steal the Time-Turner from Hermione’s office.

But what happens when something that already happened is changed – something as simple as preventing someone from finishing the Tri-Wizard Tournament? How does that impact the past, and ultimately the future?

“By turns playful and gripping, disturbing and detailed, poignant and powerful, it is superb family entertainment.” – The Stage

HISTORY & LEGACY

The eighth installment of the Harry Potter-series is a play written by Jack Thorne, following a tale by Thorne, J.K. Rowling, and John Tiffany. The announcement of the new play’s premiere coincided with the 18th anniversary of the very first Harry Potter book Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone.

The original West End production of Harry Potter And The Cursed Child premiered in early June 2016 at the Palace Theatre to massive critical acclaim. After receiving record-breaking awards and nominations, the production opened in April 2018 at the Lyric Theatre on Broadway. To date, Harry Potter And The Cursed Child has been performed over 2,328 times on Broadway alone, making it the third longest-running play on Broadway, has been performed for nine years on the West End, and had nine major productions globally.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child’s award-shelf is groaning heavily under the load of no less than an Evening Standard Theatre Award, three Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards, ten WhatsOnStage Awards, nine Laurence Olivier Awards, six Tony Awards, five Drama Desk Awards, six Outer Critics Circle Awards, and a special citation from the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Awards.
