THE PLOT

A young wealthy prince in a castle turned down an old beggar woman looking for shelter. His cruelty for turning her away due to her appearance transformed him into a beast. Now, this curse has conquered the castle for a decade until Belle arrives and turned this ugly fate into a grand reawakening. Beast falls in love with Belle but things take a turn when a jealous man, Gaston, brings villages to the castle in order to save Belle and kill the beast. Will love conquer all in this timeless tale? BACKGROUND

This thrilling stage adaptation from the Walt Disney Animation has been conquering the stages since the early 90s. Based on the animated film with the same title, the story is based on the fairytale by Jeanne-Marie LePrince de Beaumont. The theatrical production has been deemed as one of the finest musicals to hit the stage. The musical features music from Tony Award winning lyricst Tim Rice, Grammy winning lyricist Howard Ashman, and Grammy winning composer Alan Menken. Beauty and the Beast had its debut performance on Broadway in 1994 followed by international productions in Australia, Germany, and London. The 1997 UK production earned the musical the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical. During its 13 year streak on Broadway, Beauty and the Beast grossed over $400 million and sold over seven million tickets. Today, it remains one of the most sought after Broadway and touring musicals of all time.

When Disney CEO Michael Eisner ordered to have this award winning film adapted for the stage, the production made sure to bring in all the most talented forces in the world of theater. The original scriptwriter for Beauty and the Beast Linda Woolverton was brought in as bookwriter, adapting her Golden Globe winning masterpiece for the stage. Meanwhile, Grammy winning composer Alan Menken, Grammy winning lyricist Howard Ashman, and Tony Award winning lyricist Tim Rice brought the magic through music with compositions that enticed the soul. Choreographer and director Matt West leads the production in this amazing epic with the cooperation of an award winning string of talents including Tony Award winning lighting designer Natasha Katz, Tony Award winning costume designer Ann Hould-Ward, Tony Award winning sound designer John Shivers, acclaimed hair and makeup designer David H. THE CAST

The North American Touring cast comprises some of the most talented performers in the theater circuit. Lead actors Kyra Belle Johnson comes in as Belle, Fergie Philips plays the role of Beast. Stephen Mark Lucas (from the Book of Mormon) fills the dynamic role of Gaston. Meanwhile, the musical’s band of castle staff includes Danny Garnder as Lumiere, Kath Voytko as Mrs. Potts, Javier Ignacio as Cogsworth, and Harry Francis as Lefou.
