GIVEON is modern R&B’s rising star. The seven-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter just wrapped up an incredible performance at the 2022 BET Awards. However, this was not GIVEON’s first high-profile appearance. In 2021, he delivered his viral hit, “Heartbreak Anniversary,” during the Grammy Awards. The following year, he returned to the same stage to perform “Peaches” with Justin Bieber. This feat contrasts the R&B singer’s early days of producing his own music and uploading it on SoundCloud.
GIVEON rose to prominence with his collaboration single “Chicago Freestyle” with Drake was dropped in 2020. Spawned by Drake’s mixtape, Dark Lane Memo Tapes, the song peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. GIVEON’s performance in the song resonated well with many listeners thanks to his captivating baritone and jazz-like vocals. In the same year, GIVEON released his debut EP Take Time, which spawned his biggest hit single, “Heartbreak Anniversary.” The EP debuted at number 35 on the Billboard 200 and number 4 on the Top R&B Albums charts, while the single peaked at number 16 on the Top 100 charts. The single later earned multiple platinum certifications in the U.S. and four other countries. This 2022, GIVEON released his debut album, Give and Take, which featured hit singles “For Tonight” and “Lie Again.” Both songs entered the Hot R&B Songs chart, while “Tonight,” was certified Gold in the U.S.
