Southern rapper J.I.D. started releasing music in 2009. He dropped several mixtapes before signing with J.Cole’s label, Dreamville Records. J.I.D. then released his debut album, The Never Story in 2017. The album gained substantial traction online and entered the Billboard 200 chart. The following year, J.I.D. made his breakthrough with his sophomore effort Dicaprio 2, a sequel to his 2015 EP, Dicaprio. The album charted globally and soared to the top 50 on the Billboard 200. The album spawned viral hit singles, “151 Rum” and “Off Deez” both went platinum in the US. J.I.D. continues to rise on the charts with his subsequent releases. His third album Forever Story also found immense commercial success in the US and several other countries. The album earned gold after selling over half a million copies, making it his best selling album to date. J.I.D. has appeared in numerous other projects, including Dreamville compilation effort Revenge of the Dreamers, which went to number 1 on the Billboard 200 and Top Hip-hop Albums chart.
