Silent Movie Mondays are showing the classic Faust at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on Monday, April 27th. This is a chance to wind back the clock and even the mind a little bit. Mondays tend to be rough, but you can make them a little extra special if you come out to the Paramount Theatre for a movie night.
Faust is one of the deepest films that was ever made in that era. You're going to have to be on the edge of your seat to make sure that you can read through the dialogue on the screen because, of course, you're at a silent movie! Don't forget that part. What you're in line for on April 27th is not your average movie-going experience. You're stepping back in time and enjoying a gem of cinema history at the Paramount Theatre. Click the "Buy Tickets" button to make sure you're here for it.
Silent Movie Mondays has been a tradition of the Seattle Theater Group for many years. Thankfully, audiences have responded year over year. It's truly a unique experience that allows new audiences to see the history of film, not only the stories themselves, in a large-scale format that they won't be able to witness anywhere else. It's a way to keep these stories and what they mean to history as a whole alive. On top of all that, you get awesome popcorn and this feeling that you're walking into a time capsule. Anyway you look at it, this can be an incredible showing.
Spoiler alert is in effect here, but also, the idea is to tread lightly to make sure that anyone who hasn't seen the film doesn't have it ruined by this paragraph. Faust is a German folktale played out on the silver screen starring perhaps the first major actor of the movie scene, Emile Jannings. It's the story about a bet between a demon and an archangel to see if the former can corrupt a just man. This was one of the first films to cover such deep topics and even feature "s*x scenes." It's in air quotes because those are whiter than a kiss on a kids' show these days!
At these events, only a portion of the theater is open. Also, you need to claim your seat on a first-come, first-served basis. That all means that ideally, you can get out of here early, go inside the theater, find your popcorn, and your ideal spots. In doing all that, you'll be able to take in the old cinema vibe that these showings are trying to keep alive. That's certainly a major part of the overall experience.
Since limited seats are available, you can be sure tickets become scarce close to showtime. Make sure you click the "Buy Tickets" link soon so that you don't miss this opportunity.
