The Lion King at Paramount Theatre Seattle

Categorized today as the third of Broadway’s longest-running shows of all time, The Lion King has continued to amaze audiences worldwide with multiple tours that have reached not just several locations in the United States, but also Europe, Canada, and Asia among others. On December, The Lion King adds one other to its list of productions as The Lion King musical will be arriving in Paramount Theatre at Seattle on Thursday 18th December 2025!

Disney's The Lion King, since its creation and move to the Broadway stage in 1997, has allowed distinct methods in theater to shine so much more. With a timeless tale brought to life on stage with the distinct usage of life-sized puppetry of animals and an African-inspired music list and performance numbers, The Lion King was regarded as an amazing surprise to both supporters of the original film as well as completely brand new theatergoers.

Building up on an already riveting production, the historic play is also certainly one of the most awarded musicals in each award season it was included in. In just a year after its first performance, Disney's The Lion King was nominated for over 20 awards, winning 6 Tony awards in that year alone including Best Musical, Best Scenic Design (by Richard Hudson), Best Choreography (by Garth Fagan), Best Lighting Design (by Donald Holder), Best Direction of a Musical and Best Costume Design (by Julie Taymor). The award bestowed for Best Direction of a Musical is considered major, as Julie Taymor is the first female to ever receive the award.

In its upcoming years after its debut, the Broadway musical carried on to extend and build on its success with more than over 70 major arts awards and nominations received. In its multiple tours and shows all over the world, it has been presented awards by a great many institutions including the NY Drama Critics Circle, The Grammys, the Laurence Olivier Awards, the Molière Awards, and the Helpmann Awards.
