The Lion King shares the struggles of the young Lion Prince Simba, who before his time has no choice but to come to terms with his destiny of succeeding as the leader of the Pride Lands due to the tragedy that befalls his father, Mufasa. Mufasa, who is a well-loved King by the people of the Pride Lands, suffers betrayal from from Scar, Simba’s uncle, which leads to his death. This forces the lion cub into into exile for years on end, and this is where the Prince's long journey and his subsequent homecoming to The Pride Lands and his rightful place as King.
Based off the late 1994 motion picture of the the very same title produced by Disney, The Lion King was beautifully adapted to the Broadway medium by director Julie Taymor and the excellent ensemble and crew. Its launch in the 90s was a fresh addition to theater, being lauded by fans at the time.
